California here we come

It's that time of year again. The time when Vicky and I sit around a table with iPads, laptops, guidebooks and a credit card and make a very detailed plan for our upcoming holiday. And Ian watches wheeler dealers.

This year we have decided on a trip to California. We are leaving Chris and Kathy at home so there will be more room in the car. Vicky was there when the idea was mooted and quickly jumped on the bandwagon. she is the best event planner on the planet though, so we decided to take her.
We will travel nearly its whole length, from San Francisco at the top, to San Diego at the bottom, and back again. We will visit beaches and forests, prisons and castles. Gaze in awe at the highest waterfall in northern America and drive through the middle of a tree. Stay in luxurious hotels, and very luxurious hotels. We hope to see some wildlife that we've never seen before, and some that we have. All of this with a backdrop of hot summer days and balmy nights, and a really good 'Californian summer' playlist that I have put together. Are you jealous yet?

A new feature this blog will be the 'song for the day'. I will be choosing a suitable tune each day after careful consideration. You poor souls at home will have a chance to join in with the ambience by playing, and singing along in the rain.
